The great capital of France. Beware of disapproving looks from the toffee nosed Parisian upper class, and be ready to fight through hordes of tourists, who like yourself see nothing more to interest them than the baroque architecture which winks at them for attention in all it's bronze plated glory.

Such as stereotypical image of Paris, the girl might aswell have a couple of baguettes tucked under her arm.

As if this needs an introduction.

A statue of some French hero, Napoleon most probably.

One of the many facade’s of Le Louvre. As viewed from the Seine. Yet another generic tourist photo, sorry about that.

The famous Paris Opera, designed by Charles Garnier in the same neo-classical baroque style as many buildings in Paris, has an imposing facade which features bronze busts of famous composers. My mum was ecstatically awed by this building. The back entrance is almost as impressive as the front!

Sacre Coeur, or Sacred Heart is a massive Roman Catholic basilica which sits on top of a hill in Montmatre, which is the highest point of the city. The steps up the hill and the entrance were absolutely crawling with tourists, and there were scammers everywhere trying to part cash from those who looked gullible enough, ie me.

Rennes is the capital city of the Brittany region. It really is a beautiful French city, the centre is made up of 14th to 19th century buildings and cobbled streets lined with cafe's, patisserie's, formagerie's and several other 'erie's' it's like Paris without the busloads of tourists.

For some reason, I initially thought this was the old railways station of Rennes, but it turns out this is actually the old post office. This photo was taken just where the river is concreted over to make space for a market.

Rennes is a bustling city with plenty of cafe’s shops, museums and culture, but not ruined by masses of tourists as is the case with Paris.

Berlin, the capital of Germany is an inspiring city. There's no doubt that recent history has given the city a unique identity, one that is only just recovering from division and is re-inventing itself in creative and innovative ways.

Berlin is known as the unofficial European capital of Techno, a music genre which flourished when illegal raves came about after the fall of the Berlin Wall. It's been said that techno music had an influential hand in re-unifying the people of east and west Berlin.

Whenever I travel to the Greek islands, I always fly in to the Greek capital and enjoy a few hours there before boarding a ferry to the islands. The city has a vibrant street culture with lots of bars shops and markets and the people are very laid back and friendly.
