France

Paris

September 1, 2008

The great capital of France. Beware of disapproving looks from the toffee nosed Parisian upper class, and be ready to fight through hordes of tourists, who like yourself see nothing more to interest them than the baroque architecture which winks at them for attention in all it’s bronze plated glory.

Rennes

April 8, 2008

Rennes is the capital city of the Brittany region. It really is a beautiful French city, the centre is made up of 14th to 19th century buildings and cobbled streets lined with cafe’s, patisserie’s, formagerie’s and several other ‘erie’s’ it’s like Paris without the busloads of tourists.

Le Neufbourg

December 1, 2007

My parents and sister live in this village in Normandy, Northern France. The village is essentially two roads running parallel, the population can’t be much more than a couple of hundred. The small town of Mortain is nearby.

Morning fog, The village in the background.

A summer day, taken from my parents front room window.

Abbaye Blanche, an old Convent. I think it’s now near enough empty.

Next to the convent there’s a hill with lots of stone crosses off the path.

Stone cross.

On top of the hill is this statue of the Virgin Mary. Apparently three canadian soldiers hid inside it for three days behind nazi lines, during WWII.

My mother and sister in front of one of the crosses.
